Would you either have a child (Biologically) or adopt a 10 Year old Child...?

Who needs a family? If you choose giving birth to a child, then why? And if you choose the 10 year old child, then why? I've always been confused about this, I mean if someone wants a child then why don't they just adopt one? There's lots of children in Foster Care that needs a Family.
